Why you Should not Post your Party on Facebook!

Do not post your party on facebook

Internet websites such as Myspace and Facebook are great sites for getting in touch with old friends as well as making new friends.

Facebook is a great site because you can get updates on your friends, and you chat and tell everyone else what you are doing.  But, if you are thinking about having a party at your house, you might want to think twice about posting your party plans on Facebook, here's why:

The first thing that you need to take into consideration is how many people that will actually be able to see this Facebook party posting.

Party postings and invites are not typically private on Facebook which means anyone who is a friend of one of your friends is going to be able to see the posting and make it a point to come to your house.

Now, one or two extra people may not be such a problem, but having about 30-40 extra people might be a problem, not only for you but for the neighbourhood as well.

Now, you are probably thinking that you can just write in the post that friends may not bring friends to the party, but who is really going to follow that rule?

Many things get looked over when it comes to parties, people get excited and just simply do not read the directions.  You may have stressed no extra people, but if you post on Facebook, you will have many extra people, so just keep that one in mind.

Another great reason why you should stay away from posting a party on Facebook is privacy.  When you set up an invitation on Facebook, you have to be able to give directions to the location of the party and if the location of that party is your house, do you really want to be putting your address and directions to your place on the Internet.

Putting your information on the Internet is just as good as being asked to be robbed.  Instead of posting the information on Facebook, send the directions to your friends in private emails or private messages, that way it is not available for the entire world to see!

While Facebook might be a great way to get the word out about a party, it is not always the smartest thing to do.  If you are trying to be safe and you want to protect yourself but still have a good time, stay away from posting any sort of events on Facebook, or the Internet for that matter.

The Internet is a great place to meet new people and to get a lot of information, but the fact of the matter is, the internet is not as safe as we might think.  Posting party information on Facebook is going to open your house up to a world of problems and possibly some trouble.  So, be smart and send out the invitations privately, use email or send private messages.
