Do you want to announce and celebrate your engagement? You can do both the things at the same time. All you need for this is to throw an Engagement Party.

Hosts, Guests and Invitational terms

It is important to invite only those people whom you are going to invite to the wedding. So, you should compile your wedding guest list before the Engagement Party. Generally those who are to be invited are relatives and close friends.

The parents of the bride host traditionally. Though, nowadays anyone could be a host.

Try to throw the Engagement party not later then three months after the official engagement announcement. Usually the Engagement Party is held in a month after the engagement and three to six months before wedding. Sending invitational cards become a tradition.

To hold a barbecue you need: a grill, some meat, some alcohol and non alcohol beverages, some side dish and probably some salads. Many people like having hamburgers or hot-dogs and beer for their barbecue. The high-point of the barbecue may become a sucking-pig broiled on the grill.

Cocktail Engagement Party

The other variant of the Engagement Party is a cocktail party. It needs less time to prepare dishes for it. Indeed everything you need for such a party you can buy at the supermarket. The main accent of the cocktail party is made on the beverages while food plays the dominant role at the barbecue.

To have a worthy cocktail party you should have: some champagne (at least red and white kinds of it); some kinds of wine (The situation with wine is more difficult then with champagne. You need some red pop wine and some white pop wine, some semisweet red wine and some semisweet white wine, and at last some dry red wine, and some dry white wine); Martini; some liquors; some hard drinks (vodka, brandy, whisky, tequila, absinthe etc).

Don’t expect your guests to bring you presents. There is a wedding for giving presents. Though, some of your guests present you something for sure.

Dinner party essentials

There are lots of various possible dinner parties. Either you may write a guest list and send out invitations to your party.

Having the party outdoors

Though, even having a party outdoors you should have some place with a roof over it prepared for a case of a sudden rain. That’s why most outdoor parties are held in the backyard of one’s house. It is also possible to have a party in the nature. Then you should have a tent in order it is rain.

Indeed many people like having party in the nature, sitting near the fire and probably playing the guitar and singing songs. If you are going to have such a party you should make sure that you are allowed to make fire in the place you are going to visit and maintain the fire code (maintaining the fire code is an actual thing for any kind of parties).

Do not forget to clean the place from any garbage after you had your party in order the others could enjoy nature there too.

You may also have a dinner party at a restaurant. It needs less affords but more money. Also, this way of throwing a party is the most formal.
